Text

One of the things the client also wanted for this was to create the text myself for the booklet.
To do this I made sure to look at other texts about these animals that were factually corrected and aimed at a similar audience. My main source for this research was either the WWF website or National Geographic. This is because they are both reliable, factual websites with information on all of the animals, used by many other countries around the world, it has to be reliable and accurate, which is why I felt confident to use it as a base for the information.

I made sure, when writing it, that as well as facts and information I used personal language to refer to the readers. This is because the company would want it to feel like they're personally talking to the reader, almost making it come off that they were personally giving this information to the one person. Doing this helps engage the reader, but also make them like the company more as they feel as if they are a part of this, being directly referred to, even if they don't realise it. Within each segment I also made sure to mention about the 'holiday' and 'trip', encouraging and making the reader want to go more as it feels as if they have already booked and secured the fact that they are going on this holiday.
This creates a low level of fomo, fear of missing out, as it is written like they are already going, they will see what they're missing and want to go.

When it came to actually writing it, I have written it all split out by segments in a word document. This is because InDesign doesn't have a default spell checker like word has, and this makes proofreading it easier. Once I have written it all in word, it is simple enough to select the text and export it, importing it into the premade text boxes in InDesign. This will automatically apply the font and size, as well as format that was created during the scamp phase. From there it's just editing the layout in additional way, such as ensuring that there are no line breaks in the middle of any of the words, which just looks a bit messy.
Once it is in that different format, I reread it once again to just ensure that there are no mistakes or confusing sentences that I could not previously see. It's important to have the text right before sending it off to the client, as it's both easier to edit, but also means there's no chance of it slipping through into being published and printed, when at that point it would be costly and look bad on the client having to change it.
