Social Media Ad Part 1

Looking at the general audience and age-range for my 'My Hero' event I've decided to go with an Instagram format for this Social Media Ad.
This is because Instagram is a flourishing social media platform, and the stories can be posted just to an account or pushed out as an ad post that anyone looking at Instagram Stories can also see. It's also a very similar format to Facebook Stories and Snapchat posts, so could be easily cross posted on those two sites. Instagram can also turn these stories into advert posts with minimal edits, so it's a good format that can then be cross posted very simply with minimal design edits or graphical know-how, which is very useful.

Instagram stories also allow you to attach links, so you just need to press, or swipe up on it and it will take you to the webpage of your choice, so can be a fast way to take the viewer to a more informational page. Allowing you to keep only the minimal information you need to inform them on the advert, and means that you can get more people looking as it's very simple and the public like things that are simple.

There are also a nice range of websites that give advice and handy information about how to format and size the file you need to use for the Instagram stories.

With the story, the main thing I want to include is:
-An Image of Gonzo
-What it is [i.e Come meet the Great Gonzo!]
-Date
-Time
I only need to include this much information specifically, as the rest can be available on a webpage that is available using the Instagram swipe up / press for site, that it has on story ads.

I will also be using InDesign to format the story, as I have references for where to include things, and InDesign will allow me to add barriers and references on where I can work from. The Image will be one that I source from his official Disney Character Wiki, as all images on there are official.
For the font that I am going to use, I am going to use one called Blackgrounds. This is because it's bold and simple to read, but it also fun looking and matches with Gonzo's character rather well. It want's to be fun to not only match the character, but also the audience that I am trying to attract.

Creating it in InDesign, I am removing any bleed from the page, this is because it is going to be only used digitally, so it doesn't need to have any bleed. Margin wise, I have also only added these at the top and bottom, to factor in how Instagram has the two safe zones, I will want to include imagery there, but no important parts or information as they will not be quite visible enough for it to be easily read.

Within InDesign the margins help, but I took a screenshot and exported it to a different program to create a rough sketch of where the assets that Instagram adds. With the icon, username, hamburger settings and learn more / share buttons.
Having these laid out helps me work out where the images can be organised, as even though there won't be important information in these safe zones, there will still be imagery overlaid into it; this imagery does still need to work with the layout, and not have something such as, Gonzo's head overlapping with the username. With the text added to the top and bottom with Instagram, they also need to have simpler backgrounds and colour so that they're readable to the viewers, and not just lost in the background in anyway.
