Billboard

The first step when it has come to creating the Billboard was to research what sizes they come in, and where these specific sizes tend to be used, as the brief has no specific size stated. After looking through a couple of different sites I settled on one that's 12 sheets in a landscape format.
The size 12 sheets is 120 X 60 inches, though due to higher print quality and skills now, these can be printed in four sheets, but it is still referred to as 12 sheets. It will be in a landscape format so it can have a main feature art piece on one side, and then information on the other side of it.
One thing I am having to do, is design it at half scale, this is because my art program is struggling with such a large canvas, and I can then use another program to happily scale this up to be it's full size. Even at this point the program is rather laggy still, working at an incredibly large scale compared to what it is normally used for, however it is more usable then at the full scale.

With the other freedom of it just being a billboard, is what format I wish it to be presented in, either digital or printed. Digital does allow more interesting traits, such as animated elements, or having it be able to flick between multiple designs or information screens. Where as print only has the one design, however it can go up in more places, only needing something to be attached to, rather then needing a screen that needs the right power levels and format so that it can survive outside.
Weighing these up, as well as the style that I have gone with for the rest of the assets, to keep them cohesive, I've decided to go with a printed Billboard. The main reason is for the aesthetic of it, as I believe it better matches the colours and style of the work it's being presented in. A printed Billboard also better matches Gonzo & the Muppets in general, as they do have a older time feel to them due to how long they have been going on.

Much like the other assets, I will be using an actual photo of Gonzo as the base for the image, in this case taken from his official twitter account. It shall then be painted over in the same style and colour as the other assets have, to keep that cohesive look. However, the background will defiantly have some extra detail due to how large a scale it will be seen on, as well as potentially some form of feature design for around the text.

I have kept the main image of Gonzo to the left, leaving a gap so when it's imported into InDesign the text has room and can easily fit in on the right. Including the fact that Gonzo is in that location as well as the times and date available.
The reason that I'm including the date on this billboard, even though it will be up for the event, is because it will have to go up before the day and means that people won't go to visit when he's not there and be disappointed.

Now with this full art it can have the text put on. The background has been left relatively simple, because it may be seen in a very large scale, but this can also be very overwhelming when viewed.

Once I opened up InDesign, I created a Page to the exact billboard specifications, 120" X 60" and then added on 1 inch of bleed, to allow for any slight error when it comes to lining up when cutting out the image. This is especially important for something at such a large scale, as any potential white that could appear if cut slightly off, would be even more obvious on something this large.
Everything is kept as high quality as possible, and along this line, as well as providing a the final InDesign file to those needed, it will also be saved as a PDF, which will provide the file as much clarity as possible and the format that many printers want when it comes to Billboard printers.

These are the settings I used to export, and including the InDesign file allows any changes needed in the exporting process in case of the chosen printer wanting any of the settings different.

The fonts and colours I used for the text, were again, lifted straight from the advert to help keep each design cohesive for the event.
